Locate Choctaw Supervision Records

To find someone released through the Choctaw Probation & Parole Office, first confirm that the person is under Mississippi state supervision. This MDOC Community Corrections office is not a jail and does not create a county custody roster. It routes supervision after a qualifying prison or jail release, while the public Parolee Search supplies the first official lookup. A Choctaw County supervision record may reflect parole, probation, or another community status rather than full sentence discharge. Search results should be matched to the person, the releasing agency, and the office actually shown before the Louisville office is contacted.

Choctaw Release Supervision Office

The Choctaw Probation & Parole Office is an MDOC Community Corrections location. It supervises eligible people in the community and provides agency routing for Choctaw County. It does not hold inmates, execute a jail release, or publish a list of people who left the Ackerman jail. Its role begins when a court or state corrections status places a person under community supervision.

Mississippi divides key duties. The Mississippi State Parole Board decides parole matters. MDOC Community Corrections supervises parolees, probationers, and other eligible people after release. A court imposes probation and handles court orders or violations within its authority. These functions can overlap in one person's record, but they are not the same.

StatusWho authorizes itWhat the office does
ParoleMississippi State Parole BoardRoutes or provides active community supervision.
ProbationSentencing courtSupervises under court and MDOC Community Corrections terms.
Earned-release supervisionMDOC under applicable law and calculationHandles the assigned community supervision route.
DischargeRelevant agency or court recordMay mark the end of the status rather than ongoing supervision.

“Not incarcerated” is not the same as “sentence discharged.” A person can live in the community while remaining on parole, probation, or ERS. Conversely, a person released from the Choctaw County Jail may have no MDOC supervision at all. Start with the releasing and supervising agency, not the office name alone.

Search Choctaw Supervision Records

The MDOC home page separates Inmate Search from Parolee Search. Use the Parolees tab when a person is believed to have left state confinement on parole. Search by the name or MDOC identifier offered by the live system, then match the identity and public status fields. The inmate tab remains useful when the person may still be in a prison or regional facility.

  1. Determine whether the last known custodian was Choctaw County Jail, MDOC, or another agency.
  2. Open MDOC and choose the Parolees tab for an expected state parole status.
  3. Search the person by the offered name or identifier and compare the public identity fields carefully.
  4. Record the exact status and office information displayed rather than inferring a status from roster absence.
  5. Contact the Choctaw office only to confirm routing or learn the proper public-record request path.

If the person appears only in the Inmate Search with a current institution, secure state custody may still be active. A future tentative release date is not proof that the person has left. If the result shows parole, check the Parolees tab and confirm the listed office. A fully discharged person may not remain in an operational public search forever, so an older record may require a written MDOC request.

The supervision office is not a custody locator. Confirm a prison release in MDOC records and a county-jail release in the sheriff's docket.

The complete Choctaw County released inmate search covers the county docket, MDOC, courts, VINE, and receiving-agency checks when the starting custodian is uncertain.

Note: A Parolee Search match supports active public supervision fields, not the exact time the person walked out of prison.

Choctaw Supervision Office Contact

The official MDOC office page lists the Choctaw Probation & Parole Office in Louisville. It gives the street address, telephone, fax number, and Community Corrections leadership. Use the office to confirm whether it serves the Choctaw County case and where a correction or public-record request should go.

148 South Court Avenue
Louisville, MS 39339
Phone: 662-773-2253
Fax: 662-773-6073
Office hours: confirm directly

MDOC lists Tony P. Harris as Community Corrections Director. That public leadership detail can help identify the agency, but questions about one person's record should still use the proper public channel. Appropriate requests include confirming that this is the office serving Choctaw County, asking which public search applies, and requesting directions for a formal status-history or record-correction process.

Do not request a supervisee's private appointment schedule, treatment data, private residence details beyond fields lawfully made public, or case-management notes. The office can route public information without exposing protected supervision details. If the question concerns the signed sentence or probation order, contact the court that issued it.

Choctaw Supervision Is in Louisville

The county-labeled office is in Louisville rather than Ackerman. That local fact is important for people who assume all Choctaw County records sit beside the county jail. It also creates a naming overlap with Winston/Choctaw County Correctional Facility, which is another Louisville location but serves a very different function.

Winston/Choctaw is a regional correctional facility that houses state inmates. The Choctaw Probation & Parole Office is a noncustodial Community Corrections office. A record showing the prison means secure custody. A Parolee Search record assigned to the office can show community supervision. Sharing a city or the word “Choctaw” does not merge the two agencies or their records.

Likewise, the Choctaw County Jail remains in Ackerman under the sheriff. It records local release or transfer in the public jail docket. If that docket says “sent to MDOC,” follow the person into the state inmate system first. Contact Community Corrections only when the state record supports a supervision status.

Request Choctaw Supervision Records

A public search may not answer an older discharge, a status correction, or the history of a move from prison to supervision. For those issues, a written MDOC request can seek releasable status history, actual release or discharge date and type, institution movement, parole or ERS dates, and final public location or status. Use the MDOC number when known to reduce same-name mistakes.

MDOC's formal public-record instructions direct written requests to the Public Records Officer, Legal Division, 301 North Lamar Street, Jackson, MS 39201, fax 601-359-5735, or legalpublicrecords@mdoc.state.ms.us. The research identifies MDOC Records at P.O. Box 24388, Jackson, MS 39225, 601-933-2889, and MDOCRecordsDepartment@mdoc.state.ms.us for ordinary records questions. Confirm the live agency instructions before sending a request.

A court order and an MDOC record answer different questions. The order states what the judge imposed or changed. MDOC shows its custody or supervision status and calculation. For a Choctaw County felony, the Circuit Court file may include the judgment, sentence, modification, revocation, or discharge entry. For county misdemeanors and preliminary felony stages, Justice Court may hold the starting record.

Ask for the releasable status history and exact public meaning of each status, including whether the person remains on supervision or has been discharged.

If records disagree, compare the date and verb on each one. “Parole granted,” “released,” “assigned,” “revoked,” and “discharged” are distinct events. A grant can precede physical departure, and an assignment can follow it. Do not replace those stages with one broad release date.

Note: Written MDOC records are the better route when a past supervision or discharge status no longer appears in the live search.

Choctaw Absconder Status Is Not Release

An absconder is a person alleged to have failed supervision or location requirements. It is not a lawful discharge. An old list, alert, or unmatched status should not be read as proof that the sentence ended. Verify a warrant or absconder claim through the agency or court responsible for it and retain the status date.

A supervision violation can lead to a warrant, hearing, modified conditions, or return to custody. The public record may show only part of that chain. Ask for the court or Board action that supports a legal status and use MDOC for custody or community-placement information. A current Choctaw County Jail booking after a violation is a new custody event, not a correction to the original prison release.

MS SAVIN/VINE alerts can include return to custody after absconding, escape or absconding, transfer, a unit change, and release. Read the contributing agency and event text. Then verify by telephone because an automated notice is not the final supervision order or discharge record.

When Choctaw Supervision Ends

Supervision ends through an official discharge or other lawful termination recorded by the responsible agency or court. The end of secure custody does not cause that result by itself. Parole eligibility is only a threshold for Board consideration, and a parole grant can still precede the physical release process. Probation follows the sentencing order and any later modification or revocation.

Release from confinement
The person leaves a jail or prison building, sometimes into supervision.
Active supervision
Community Corrections monitors compliance with the applicable parole, probation, or ERS terms.
Absconder
An alleged failure to meet supervision or location duties, not a valid release status.
Revocation
An official action that can withdraw or alter community placement after required process.
Discharge
The official end of the relevant sentence or supervision status.

Mississippi Code Section 47-7-3 and related provisions govern parole eligibility with offense-date, category, sentence, prior-history, and exclusion rules. The first eligible date does not compel release. MDOC and the Parole Board perform the individual calculations and decisions, while the Choctaw office handles the local supervision route.

For final verification, seek the public discharge or termination record and match it to the correct person. If a court retained authority over probation, request the closing entry from that clerk. If MDOC held the supervision record, seek the releasable status history. That pair can distinguish release from prison, time on supervision, and the later end of the legal status.
